Will Barnet

Barnet became the official printer for the Art Students League in 1936, a role that allowed him to mentor emerging artists such as James Rosenquist, Knox Martin, Emil Milan, Paul Jenkins, Ethel Fisher, and Cy Twombly. He also taught at Cooper Union, Yale University, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts Wikipedia. His teaching emphasized formalism, disciplined technique, and the exploration of the human condition. Barnet’s works are held in major U.S. museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The National Gallery of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art, and The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, as well as internationally, including the British Museum and the Vatican Museums. He was awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and was a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
