Norman Rockwell

Norman Rockwell (1894–1978) was a famous American painter and illustrator. He is best known for his warm, realistic pictures of everyday life in the United States. He showed small-town values, family moments, and humor. Early Life and Training: Born in New York City on February 3, 1894.Left high school early to study art full-time. Attended the National Academy of Design and the Art Students League. Became the art director for Boys' Life magazine at age 19. Major Career Highlights: Painted 322 covers for The Saturday Evening Post over 47 years. Created famous patriotic works like the Four Freedoms series during World War II. Moved to Look magazine later in life to paint about civil rights and poverty. Received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1977.Died in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, on November 8, 1977.
