Joan Paley

Joan Paley, a native of Connecticut, has studied Art at Connecticut College, the University of Hartford, and the Art Student's League of New York. The source of Paley's artistic inspiration is nature. Her lyrical landscapes and florals display a unique blend of subtle color and dramatic form in perfect harmony and composition, creating a lasting response in all who view her work. She paints a world of beauty, light and happiness exuding with joy. The colors vibrate from her work, suggesting landscapes and floral forms. Although the viewer can depict a floral or landscape, realism has been eschewed for abstraction. Her nature studies suggest sensual shapes and color rather than generic origins, stimulating the imagination and leaving the viewer with associations unique to his own experience. Her paintings translate beautifully to both silkcreen and lithography. Vivid color and form make the transition from oils to limited edition prints both dynamic and natural.
